Barnabas Road Introduces a Stream Hosting Plan for the 10,000 US Terrestrial Radio Stations Not Currently on the Internet

Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) February 25, 2008 -- During the February 11-13, 2008 Radio Advertising Bureau "Sales, Management and Leadership Conference" held in Atlanta, Jeff Haley, President and CEO of RAB, said, "Nearly 4,000 on-air Radio stations reach listeners with a streaming component." That is, 4,000 of the approximate 14,000 terrestrial radio stations or 29% stream their programming on the Internet.

Mr. Haley went on to state, "Those not on the Internet are missing the boat. Their listeners want it and therefore advertisers want it. The technology is simple and the expense is much less than it was when it was introduced."

Barnabas Road, a leader in streaming media for broadcast radio, agrees with Mr. Haley on every count and as a result they decided to introduce a new stream-hosting rate plan that will further encourage the 10,000 or so terrestrial radio stations not currently on the Internet to start webcasting as soon as possible.

When Mr. Haley stated radio station streaming technology is simple, he was understating the relative ease of the exploit. All a radio station needs is an average quality personal computer, an always on internet connection such as DSL or Broadband, and a free digital encoding software application. You connect the station's soundboard audio output to the soundcard on the PC and "bingo" you are streaming on the internet. Then you simply need a "listen live" button on the station's web page that connects the station's listeners to the stream-hosting service. It's the easiest technology in broadcast radio today.

Of course you need a stream-hosting service to allow hundreds or even thousands of listeners to connect to your broadcast. Barnabas Road wants to be that hosting service and they will distribute your broadcast (with a station branded media player) to the public based on your estimate of audience size. So, if you are just getting started and you think your audience size will be at peak only 50 concurrent users, your monthly fee for a 20k stream will be only $12.

If a station wants a Dual-Band 20/32k package for up to 100 concurrent listeners at peak, the monthly cost will be only $32.00. In fact, any station can scale its costs from as few as 10 concurrent listeners for $2.40 to 500 concurrent listeners for $120.00 per month. An unlimited number of concurrent listeners (20k stream) can be purchased for only $176.00 per month. A station starts at the number of peak concurrent listeners chosen and it can increment upward as slow or as fast as needed. See Barnabas Road rates at: http://www.BarnabasRoad.com/Rates.htm

Barnabas Road didn't stop at simply making the expense of streaming extremely low. They also make available the top ad-injection/ad-replacement technologies no matter how large or small the radio station may be. Barnabas Road makes it possible for a radio station to actually make a profit from its internet broadcast.

Barnabas Road also provides RIAA Reporting on a "per performance" basis for a small additional monthly fee. Call Barnabas Road toll free at: 877-656-7200
